Lonesome Pine

My good old grandpa passed away a couple of weeks ago. The Big G. Despite never really having much vocal range he always used to sing this crazy song around our house. It’s called ‘The Trail of the Lonesome Pine’. It was originally written in 1913 by Ballard MacDonald but Laurel & Hardy made it famous with a ridiculous rendition some years after that. This week I thought it would try and make a cover of it for my Mum to listen to as we’ve all been thinking about him so much. It’s a hard song to cover as it’s got this lovely clumsy magic to it but the lyrics resonate with me far more now I have had a chance to study it.Im looking forward to playing it on Wednesday for him when we celebrate the big man!https://soundcloud.com/hcgarnett/lonesome-pine-live/s-BDJfL
