HOW I FELL IN LOVE WITH A ROBOT

(ten minute one) I’m breaking in with a crowbar.Nah it’s cool, not into this bar.I’m talking way in the future.nobody’s calling me a liar?Reaching loot it’s in a cabin.Don’t think I’m up for what’s to come.I can’t see what I’m having.That shiny girl, she’s the one.Beep to bop,I’m still waiting.Can’t pull a trigger on my mind.Start to stop you’re still shaking,You’re just not human kind.I went to an open mic night in sunny old Hastings. I was pretty drunk. They put it in a sub though so you know how it is. You get given a word and ten minutes to write well pretty much anything you want. This word for this little number was robot .My thinking? I imagined an imminent dystopia, one where robots take over, and humans are banished to the shadows. Living out the remainder of our existence as a subspecies, barely acknowledged by our robot superiors. It is from the perspective of a shadow dweller that falls in love with robot.

Studied with the trees,Only calm when at sea.Like the flow,What not print it on a poster.The prompt for this was a painting. It depicted a black, male tennis player with a radio around his neck and two cranes looking at him. This was at the end of the evening, I’d had a bit more to drink. It’s another angle on the creation story.
