Good fucking advice from Alexandra Taylor

As the school year is rapidly approaching to an end, I'm reflecting on the past year, thinking - what the hell did I do right in my life to deserve an opportunity like this.SCA has been blessed with many great mentors, however today I wanted to talk about one of the greatest art directors to ever walk on this planet - Alexandra Taylor. In one of the first classes she shared with us, she talked about this project called Good Fucking Design Advice (google it!). She suggested we buy the poster and stick it to our forehead so that we are always reminded to push our work further and never stop improving. If you don't know the poster, you can check it out here: http://ej.uz/GFDAposterSo some time ago Robyn and I made our own version of this poster using only Alex's quotes. I felt nostalgic so I decided to share this with you (unfortunately we can't add pictures to our scabs, so I'm gonna have to write this out for you guys).***GOOD FUCKING ADVICE FROM ALEXANDRA TAYLORBecause sometimes being your own worst critique isn't enough.Know your fucking history. Know your fucking agencies. Watch some fucking ads. Know your fucking art director. Know the fucking writer. Build a fucking bookshelf. Buy the fucking Krone book. Read the fucking Krone book. Draw the fucking keylines. Reduce the fucking leading between your fucking type to make it more fucking modern. Google is your fucking friend. Know your fucking idols. Get fucking fired. Improve your fucking work. Don't make me fucking chase you. I'm here to fucking help. Don't expect no fucking praise. Seek some fucking criticism. Embrace your fucking mistakes. Have fucking goals.BLOW MY FUCKING MIND.***Thank You Alex. You're the fucking best.
