Writing a SCAB did a good thing. By @RobCHeimann

Writing a SCAB did a good thing.

So yesterday the Marc published my scab “People I need. Part 2”, I then shared that with the relevant people. I was not expecting on much more than variations along the lines of: “Aww that’s really nice.” But from Luke I got much more. Now I’m not going to go in to too much detail because frankly, it’s none of your business you nosy parker! Suffice to say he was touched by what I said and felt the same in many ways.

On the back of the blog we started talking about stories we’d like to write, ideas we had ages ago which we’d done nothing with and new ideas that we have been mulling over more recently. I didn’t want this to be a flash in the pan, a conversation that we’d come back to here and there. So I took the simple step of starting a shared document into which we poured Ideas. We asked questions, put flesh on bones and generally fiddled about.

We both have a passion for children’s picture books in part because Luke had a daughter this year and because picture books are a distillation of storytelling practice and clean, simple writing. Our first project is going to a children’s picture book about a cloud that gets greyer and greyer because it doesn’t feel it can let go of its feelings. It is in it’s very early stages but I hope that through this blog I’ll be able to update you on it’s progress.

So writing a scab did good for a friendship and has brought me back to one of passions. So cheers Marc for getting me to write lots of these, not the outcome either of us expected.
