Since I started SCA, I’ve become more interested in technology and new inventions than I’ve ever been before.

I guess it all started when we got the Arduino sent to us last summer. It was a curse and a blessing at the same time.

Last night some of us went to a private viewing for an exhibition on Beak Street.

But it wasn’t just any art gallery. It was the new exhibition by Graham Fink, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy & Mather China.

Graham has developed a software with which he can draw, using neither hands nor any instrument, other than his eyes. The technology is called ‘eye-tacking’ and works by shining infra-red light straight into the eyes. The reflections are then recored using multi-algorithms and filters which allow eye movement to immediately be translated onto a screen.

As we walked in to the room, Graham was sitting down with his hands on his knees. Still and silent.

With nothing but the computer in front of him, a glass of water and eye drops on the table.

The white page is his canvas. And for every eye movement, lines were being drawn, which we could witness live on the wall screen.

The face of a man was taking form.

After about 10 minutes, he put his hands over his eyes and told his assistance that it was time for a break.

As people walked up to congratulate him, I asked him wether or not it was all drawn in one single line.

It was.

Graham Fink is well known for many things. A genius within our industry.

But in my eyes, last night he brought creativity to a whole new level.
