So close yet so far

So term three is about to start meaning we are ⅔ of the way through the course.

Considering how quickly these two terms have gone it feels as if we are going to be finished tomorrow.

I look back at the work I was doing at the start of the course compared to now and although I can see improvement there’s nothing I would be happy showing in July.

Over the holidays me & Angus got the opportunity to go into Razorfish for a week.

It was an awesome place to work, right next to Oxford Street, with offices that caught all of spring sunshine.

That being said it was a weird experience simultaneously being on the course whilst being on a placement.

On the one hand we wanted to impress the agency, on the other we had 3 briefs due in for school.

It was encouraging though to see that despite the tight schedule we managed to produce work on the live briefs that were good enough to be presented, and we were happy with.

I’m growing more confident that I can do the work but I don’t think my portfolio reflects this at all – and it’s pretty worrying not having something to stand on.

Whilst D&AD was a good exercise of thinking but is nowhere near as important as I had thought.

SMPs > D&ADs

Term three will be all about proving myself with a portfolio full of spectacular strats – undoubtedly the most important part of the year.
