I HATE SCABS

Seriously. SCABs suck.

I hate writing. Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but words really don’t come easily to me when I’m faced with a blank piece of paper. I can talk for Britain, but when it comes to actually structuring a paragraph I just feel stumped.

English lessons were such a long time ago. I remember kicking up a fuss and managing to drop English Literature for a subject called ‘Communications and Culture’, because the thought of sitting down and reading a book made me want to gouge my eyes out. Before recently the last book I read was the Hungry Caterpillar (great book). I’m happy to report that I’ve grown up a bit since then and found the joy in reading, although it’s certainly not something I’d choose to do for leisure, it’s more of a pastime while traveling.

Libraries are a mystery to me to – I came to the realisation recently that I don’t actually know how a library works. How do you take out a book? How long can you have it for? How are the books ordered on the shelves? I have no idea.

This isn’t to say I don’t appreciate a piece of great copy. Only the other day I was musing over a great written piece I saw by CLM BBDO for Guy Cotten Lifejackets, which invited the reader to try and hold their breath while they read the entire piece, to show them what it’s like to drown. I didn’t make it all the way to the end before taking a breath… With my slow reading pace, I’d have probably passed out.

I had planned on drawing this SCAB, as pens are far more my friend when I’m drawing, but unfortunately the day got away from here so here I am… typing a load of nonsense… Trying to fill my sentences with more words than necessary, exactly the opposite to what Vikki had taught us in her masterclass only yesterday.

Necessary is a funny word too isn’t it? I always spell it wrong. Thank god for spellcheck. No typos here.

Wow, I’m still not up to 500 words yet. I guess I’ll finish this by reiterating the fact that I HATE SCABs, they suck! Pictures rule! Down with making me write words! Down with SCABs!

Everyone, repeat after me!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

Are we all feeling sufficiently pumped up to take SCABs down?! No?! One more time, repeat after me!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

DOWN WITH SCABs!

If you made it this far, well done you. This has been my SCAB, I do not look forward to the next one.
