How it All Started
Almost exactly a year ago my journey at SCA 2.0 had already started.
I did what Paul Arden says everyone should do at least once.
I got fired.
I began working at a top 10 ad agency in Account Management and soon realised that I was in the wrong department. I found myself trapped in a vicious circle of not enjoying what I was doing, which was leading to not caring about my work.
I went back to basics. I thought about why I was so passionate about entering the advertising industry in the first place.
It wasn’t about keeping the clients happy/quiet. Nor was it about balancing the books and doing time-sheets. I wanted to work in advertising to create inspiring, innovative work.
I had the pleasure of working with a team from SCA (who ended up getting a permanent job within two months of being at the agency), and this only reiterated the fact that I was in the right place, doing the wrong job.
So there. A former (not very good) account man, coming to SCA, planning to become a very good creative.
The journey is about to begin, but I’ve been ready for a while.
