1.2.3 lift-off.

Wow we are getting close to the end. Every minute we portfolio day is coming closer, creeping in from the side. And no matter how exited you feel, you can’t help but feel lost.

Your mind is constantly working, how to solve this brief, how to make that piece of work better, should I listen to that mentor or that one. There are some people you respect that doesn’t like your work and there are the people who are giving you a job that does, who do you listen to?

It can be hard to be objective when judging other peoples work, and therefor it might not be a correct judgement, and thats why this business is so hard, a thousand different opinions and you don’t know who to listen to.

I have my favourite mentors, and my favourite agencies, so I listen to them, but it still hurts when someone comes along and says your work is not good.

So what do you do, do you go left or right, up or down. Breathe.

There is a reason you were picked for the school, there is a reason you have gotten this far. So start to listen to yourself.

Don’t toss other peoples advice aside, everyone have something useful to say, so take note of it, and give it a thought. But if you don’t believe it is the right way to go, then don’t.

And find the agencies you want to work at, and listen to them, study them, what kind of work do they do? How are the people working there, and most importantly, find out if they fit you. If it doesn’t fit, then don’t take a sit.

Find a few that you trust and respect and listen to them, they are your north stars, but your gut, is the motor that holds the keeps the boat steady, you will lose your mind if you try to make everyone but yourself happy.

And everything is going to be alright, you have gotten this far and you can go even further.
